Solution for commands translating for Windows VS Unix

I am in the learning my way around my computer part before the meat of the course begins. I have realized that a few commands are only recognized as windows commands. Example: I type 1s=command not found. I type Dir=directory correctly. But the material indicates that 1s should produce these results. I may have gone wrong somewhere during set up. Other commands work just fine. Is there a solution to this outside of looking for the other command terms? Or should I unistall/reinstall Unbuntu?

Thank you in advance!

First off, welcome to the community, @latylo! Thanks for joining!

I think you’re looking for the ls command … short for ‘list’. The first character is an “L” not a “1”.

Hope that helps!
