Numbers Lecture 1

got and understood introductions but the numbers is confusing i understand the first part of the video but don’t understand the mojolo part at the end 5:56- 6.08 i got 13*5 is 2.6 but why 5 x2 at end doesn’t make since

The “modulo” operator “%” will give us the remainder that we would get from integer division.

In Ruby and most other programming languages, when we divide integers, we only get whole number results. For example,
13 / 5 is asking, “How many times does 5 evenly go into 13?” #=> 2.

13 % 5 is asking, “What is left over after that?” #=> 3

This happens because 5 * 2 == 10 and 13 - 10 == 3

As a side note , 13 / 5 != 13.0 / 5 because division of an integer asks how many times does it evenly go in, and division of a float asks us to split it up using decimals.
13 / 5 == 2
13.0 / 5 == 2.6
13 / 5.0 == 2.6
