Help find Start Command on Ubuntu Terminal

Hello,

I am trying to start working on the HTML portion of the program. I am Using windows 10 with Ubuntu Terminal instaled.

I created a file mkdir tags.html and now I am trying to start it by using start tags.html
When I use that command I get the following
‘start’ not found, did you mean:
command ‘tart’ from deb tart (3.10-1build)1
command ‘start’ from deb coreutils (8.30-ubuntu2)
command ‘startx’ from deb xinit (1.4.1-0ubuntu2)
command ‘restart’ from deb x11-session0utils (7.7+4)

Try: sudo apt install

any help Is immensely appreciated . Thanks

I’m not an expert with the Linux terminal, but it looks like you created a directory (aka folder) called ‘tags.html’ instead of a file. Try this:
touch tags.html

This should create an empty file.

Now, using the command ‘start’ is another matter. I haven’t made it to the HTML portion, so I don’t know what that refers to, but if it is a command for something you installed for the course, then you’ll either need to include the directory strucutre to where that command is (e.g., ~/html_section/start tags.html), or you’ll need to add that directory to you $PATH variable. If you don’t know how to do that, here is a webpage that explains what the $PATH variable is and how to add a directory to it:

Hope that helps!
